School Meals
Parents can choose whether to supply a home-packed lunch or school dinner for their child.
Our kitchen is run by Hertfordshire Catering (HCL) who offer well-balanced, nutritious meals. Each day, our cooks prepare a selection of hot and hot meal options. The cost of school dinners is as follows:
Main School £3.45 per day (£17.25 per week) as of April 2025
Nursery/Pre-school £2.58 per day (£12.75 per week) as of April 2025

Booking a School Dinner
Meals can be booked online via The School Grid and must be paid for in advance.
All School meals need to be booked before 8:55am on the day. The school office are unable to book these on behalf of parents. Parents/Carers are responsible for removing a child's meal in advance if they are absent on the day of a booking before 8:55am or Hertfordshire Catering will charge for the meal.
- Log into the School Grid with your parent email and password (If you have forgotten your password, please speak to the school office)
- Credit will need to be added for children in Year 3 and above if they are not eligible for free school meals. To do this, select 'Account' and 'Make a Card Payment'. For all other children, skip straight to the next step.
- Select 'Order Meals'
- The menu for the current week will display to select a meal option for each of of the days of the week.
- Select the blue icon with the white arrow to book for future weeks. Parents can book up to a terms meals at one time.
Please note: The school office will contact parents to request a home-packed lunch is supplied, if no school meal has been booked or home-packed lunch provided for the child.
Allergy or Dietary Need
If your child has any medically confirmed allergy or dietary need, and you wish to book school dinners, please submit an application for a specialised menu to HCL before booking their first meal. This may includes allergies or needs such as no dairy/low dairy, no pork, halal etc. If your child struggles with a varied diet, please make an appointment to discuss this with the SENDCo or Pastoral Leader.

Home-packed Lunches
If your child would prefer a packed lunch we ask that it is a well balanced meal without sweets or fizzy drinks. We are a nut and sesame free school (this includes chocolate spread) and any fresh food wrapping should be foil rather than in plastic bags or cling-film. Lunchboxes must be clearly labelled with your child's name and class. We are unable to heat food from home.
Snacks
Acorns Preschool children are provided daily milk, fruit and a savoury snack during their session.
Nursery and Reception pupils are provided daily milk and fruit.
Year 1 and Year 2 children will be provided with daily fruit for a snack.
Years 3, 4, 5 and 6 children should bring in a snack from home, if they would like one at morning breaktime.
We ask that home snacks are either fruit or cereal bars (with no nuts or chocolate).
Free School Meals
Your child may be eligible for Free School Meals (FSM) if you receive certain benefits.
All children in Reception, Year 1, and Year 2 are entitled to Universal Infant Free School Meals.
We apply for free schools for all children on behalf of all parents and carers, and we will contact you if your child is eligible.
